Difficulty in getting TIE appointment

Torrevieja and Elche stopped accepting appointments some time ago, which is why they have no appointments available. It was possible to get next day appointments at Alicante, but of course that was pre August, when everything grinds to a halt.

Interesting post, thank you.  Have you been for your appointment yet?  Was it for a new TIE application or an exchange?  I'm sure I won't be the only member who would like to hear your feedback about how the appointment went.  Last year, I wrote a guide for exchanging residency to TIE (Form EX-23), which I have been updating as members provide feedback, so I'd be happy to include any advice or tips you have of your experience at Elda.

Hi Kim,

I went for the appointment today and was refused - the police said Brits must go to Alicante to obtain their TIE.

As I went, with an appointment at the due time and my name was on his list I was taken aback to say the least.

I am about to check the validity, but would advise anyone not to go there for their TIE if from the UK.

Thank you for the update, although I'm not surprised to hear this.  Smaller foreigners' offices only re-opened for a brief period, before they were closed again because Alicante had spare capacity.  Very frustrating that, having allowed you to book the appointment, they didn't cancel to save you a wasted trip.

Just to update on this topic, after being refused at Elda I went back to try for an appointment.

I tried the TIE office in Alicante and also Torrevieja and even Benidorm all with no success.

Then I tried again and this time, and on the drop down box asking which office I wanted to attend I left it blank.

Hey Presto, immendiately I got an appointment at OEX Alicante.

I am led to believe office this accepts expat applications and the fact that I am assigned to mesa CNP Brexit 6 on arrival is also encouraging.

I got two appointments for my wife and I at the same time.

We are going up tomorrow, so I will update my success or failure.

Update

Went yesterday to OEX Alicante and completed application process with no difficulty
