Considering buying a holiday home

Hello,

Having done some research on the area and liked what we saw, We was thinking of buying a holiday home here for myself and grown up family but have never visited this part of Spain.

I must admit I was rather concerned when I read on this site about squatters occupying empty properties. Obviously we wouldn’t like to leave the property to find we have unwanted guests!

Are there some areas where this is worse than others? Is there any part of the village where this is unlikely to happen?

Thank you in advance for your help.

We was hoping to come over to view some properties when travel restrictions are relaxed.

Hi  Please be aware that once you have SQUATTERS in a PROPERTY in SPAIN  it is nearly almost immpossible to get them removed out of you property as Spanish Laws are completly different to the Laws that you are used to in England .The costs are  beyond a joke !!! The time it takes could run into years  !!!

SO BEWARE

Squatters have become a problem recently and more so since redundancies, and people losing their homes, through covid etc. As bigguy has said, it can be very difficult to evict those people especially if they have young children.

If you do eventually buy somewhere then make double sure of the security measures.
