Hi all,

Anyone flying out of Alicante airport tonight, or collecting visitors at Arrivals, I've just heard from a friend that the airport is closed again.  The damage done to the roof in last week's fire has put the stability of the structure at risk in the current bad weather.  My friend, who was supposed to be flying out of Alicante this afternoon, has had his flight switched to Murcia later this evening.  As the bad weather is forecast for the next 3 days at least, it's probably worth keeping an eye on developments at the airport if you're planning to fly from there during that period.

Kind regards,

Kim

Yes. I came in from Birmingham today on Ryanair, destined for Alicante.

The plane was diverted to Murcia.

There were lots of planes there (more than I have ever seen there before).

My wife picked me up, but Ryanair had buses arranged to transport people to Alicante.

Welcome back!

My friend has a car parking contract with Alicante, so he's had to leave his car at home and get a taxi to Murcia.  Easyjet have told him to get a receipt ftom the driver and they'll reimburse the taxi fare.  Just as well, the cost from San Fulgencio to Murcia Corvera is €100!

Stay safe folks 😘

That is good info ... well done Easyjet. The airlines have no control over this at all.

But .... I have one of those dual airport parking contracts.

I dropped the car off at Murcia last Tuesday, and it was waiting for me at Alicante today .... but I ended up at Murcia.

My wife will drop me back at Alicante to get it after the storm has passed.
