Hi this the first time I have posted, my wife and I are coming to the Valencia area to buy a villa/house and am wondering about the visa or residence permit because we will be living in Spain permanently. Is it easy to get the visa/ Residence permit.

It all depends on Passport you have ,EU or UK 🇬🇧 or Irish, Different criteria for UK 🇬🇧 since Brexit
Many posts on this subject. Firstly, do you hold a UK or EU (including Irish) passport? The requirements are totally different depending on which one you hold. Start by looking at the tips and guides sections on here where people who have done it have posted.
You will get many solicitors, companies etc that will assist you but they can be expensive.
BLS Spain Visa have been allocated the job of handling visas to Spain. If you look at your country, UK or any other country that requires a visa (Ireland doesn't along with other EU/EEA countries) they will explain the procedures for you. You select United Kingdom and then they ask your county and then tell you which Spanish consulate covers your area.
You've asked about a visa/residence permit so assume you are UK passport holders.
To meet the requirements, you need to show an income (either active from pensions etc or passive from savings and so on) of €28,800 per year for the first applicant and €7,200 for the second if married. You also need to show medical insurance (private or state provided if over retirement age in your own country.)
Lots of other things like a criminal records check, a medical certificate and other things but the BLS site will talk you through it.

If you are going to continue working online for a UK company then you need to look at a digital nomad visa. If you are going for the Non Lucrative Visa then you are not allowed to work and have to show either a P45 showing you are no longer working or a tax statement if self employed.
BLS will show you the different visas.

As others have already mentioned if you do not hold a EU, EEA or Swiss passport then you will require a visa to live abd work legally in Spain. The following link contains information issued by the UK Givernment for those UK nationals who are considering living in Spain:

If you or your wife have recent Irish ancestry, (I noticed what I presume is your surname!) then applying for an Irish passport will make things a lot less complicated.........

Nice one swimmer,
I was about to say the same thing,
It's definitely an Irish surname,
So I'd trace back and check if you can get an Irish passport,
Then life is so much easier....
