Hi everyone!

My hubby and I are in the process of buying a property and are trying to figure out costs of works to be carried out. Does anyone have a rough cost guide for a total re-wire of a 5 bed property in town. it has a very old non compliant supply at the mo and even though my hubby was an electrician its all very different in Spain i think -for costing anyhow? Ta very much for any info! :)

We have a price to rewire/upgrade our 3/4 bed house and to increase the potencia.

Around 5k Euros. That includes pulling a new armoured supply cable from the meter box (on our neighbour's front wall) to our distribution board location.

The work will be done as part of a larger project and we are waiting for planning consent.

That's good to know, seems a good price. thanks!

Hi Maz

We are based in Pego, and my husband is a fully qualified electrician.  I have sent you a PM.

Best regards

Steph

Hi Maz

We recently had our 4/5 bedroom house completely rewired from top to bottom and that came in at 5500 Euro. That included all light and wall sockets, wiring for boilers and kitchen appliances and the breaker boards. You will also have to contact an electrical supplier, in our case iberdrola; to set up a contract, connect your house to the external mains supply and install an external meter to the property. Please ensure you use a reputable and certified electrician to do all your internal work.

Hope this helps

Dave

Thanks very much that’s very helpful thanks- which company did you use for the rewire? Did it cost anything for the electric supplier to switch you on? The house already has the feed but I’m guessing it will need something doing to it.

Hi Maz,

Over the past year we have had a complete rebuild of a Town House in Pego; we used La Safor Builders who are based in Olive. Dimitri is very helpful, reasonably priced and won't rip you off.

I think we paid iberdrola about 380euro to install the meter and connect our property to the mains. Dimitri and his team carried out all the internal wiring, including certification for us.

I totally agree with trotter with regards to using local certified electricians and tradesmen for your work.

Thanks Dave,

I have contacted Dimitri and he has done a reasonable quote for our works although it was only via a video we sent him, but its good to know someone who has used his company and is happy with the work. I only want to use local trades people. so thanks again! Maz

Hi Maz, glad to be of help and hope that all goes well. We have been unable to get over to Spain since last July due to lockdown. So all our communication with Dimitri has been via WhatsApp and video calls. Had absolutely no problems with getting our views and wishes across to him and from him.

My hubby and I haven't been to the property yet! we have been doing the viewings via whatsap and videos. It seems strange but i don't want this virus to stop us getting our dream! maybe a little naïve but we had a survey and got quotes etc.......we are waiting with baited breath for the borders to re-open so we can go!
