Hello

I have had my application for non-economically active residence rejected by the Valencia immigration office. This is solely because although I acquired it later, I did not have suitable (in their eyes) health cover in January 2021. Padron/money etc was not an issue.

I would be very pleased to hear from anyone in either of these situations:

1) Anyone who has (successfully or unsuccessfully) applied under the Withdrawal Agreement for residence in the Valencia region who may have had similar issues.

2) Anyone in Alicante region who was in a similar situation regarding health cover not starting until later in the year. I hear that the office there may be more flexible and it might help with an appeal if Valencia is shown to be out of step with Alicante.

Thanks all in advance

"although I acquired it later, I did not have suitable (in their eyes) health cover in January 2021"

What does that mean, what health cover  did you have prior to Jan 1st?

I have read/been told, that if you hold a valid EHIC card some Spanish authorities accept those and will even give you a temporary 3 month SIP card renewable every 3 months providing the EHIC card has a valid date, as having a agreement with the Uk, Spain will receive payment for medical/health given, I also know of persons gaining their residency at Alicante using the above mentioned back in September 2020 and received medical treatment before and after. The word is loads of people do it.

Hi, my husband and I were lucky to have our apucation for residencia accepted before Brexit but had to have very comprehensive private health care as part of it, so this could be the problem if you are just relying on your EHIC card and temporary SIP card.  You can't use your EHIC card once you are a resident unless you are a student.
