Me-UK passport holder, in Spain as an EU citizen's family member as my wife is German. I'm about to qualify for my UK state pension. Are we taxed separately, or as a couple? Many thanks in advance

The person who does our tax returns does one individually and one joint. They then submit the one that is most advantageous to us.

Our accountant said its advantageous to have individual tax returns.

We've been doing individual tax returns for 9 years and my wife has never paid any taxes on income whereas I have.

Without the relevant figures it's not possible to state which is  advantageous because it depends on the incomes of the individuals.
If you use the Renta.web simulator, which professionals probably do as a first pass, and with the actual Modelo 100, you can choose to do an individual or joint submission at the end of which it will tell you which is to your advantage. In a nutshell if one parties income is below the tax theshold (around €13k) then there will nothing to gain with a dual submission.
