Dear Customer,

It seems that the worst has finished and that the storm is remitting after the devastation caused by the ‘gota fría’, we hope you are well!

If you have suffered damage to your home, car, business or community due to the floodings you can contact our office to assist you, especially in processing with the Compensation Consortium, which is the competent public body in case of catastrophic risks.

Tel. (+34) 966 390 830 or (+34) 637 307 930
Email: [email protected]

We would like to extend our message to all other people who for some reason have not been able to contact their insurance company, broker or bank or have been told to process directly with the Consortium. You can contact the Consortium at the following phone numbers:

900 222 665 (free phone calling from a Spanish telephone) or (+34) 952 367 042 (landline). If all the lines are busy, you can leave your phone number to be called.

The Consortium only attends in Spanish, for those who do not feel safe with the language or do not have anyone who can help out in Spanish, you can complete their claim form (*), fill it out and send it to the Regional Delegation of the Consortium:

Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros
Plaza de Tetúan, 15.
46003 - VALENCIA

(*) The Consortium claim form cannot be attached but we can send by email upon request)

They will assign a loss adjuster who will contact you to assess the damages. To facilitate the examination and processing of the file, the Consortium suggests the following indications:

"- It is necessary that you keep the remains of the damaged goods available to the expert, and if not possible, at least take photographs before the removal of the remains.

-If you have to make an urgent repair, keep the invoices.

-It is essential that you have at the time of the visit of the appraisal expert of the budgets and invoices for the repair of the damages and of two copies (original and copy) of your insurance policy and the receipt of payment of premium, to be able to deliver to the expert the copy of both documents. "

The Consortium will always request: all data related to the insured risk, the insured and the insurance. Contact phone, email address are also your spanish bank account (full IBAN) where to make the payment.

Depending on the circumstances happened, we identify you with whom to process:

HOME / BUSINESS / COMMUNITIES:

1.- If the damages are due to electrical damage, hail or filtrations of rainwater through facades, roofs, terraces or closed patios --> contact your Company / Agent / Bank (in these cases the company will be in charge and not the Consortium)

2.- If the damage is due to flooding of homes or garages when
the rainwater seeps from the street below the door or due to waves, the incident is consortiable --> contact Consortium

CAR / VEHICLES

1.- Damage to vehicles affected by floods or waves are consortiable -> contact Consortium

2.- Damage to vehicles due to wind or the impact of objects displaced by the wind, will have cover with the insurance in case of ‘Fully comprehensive cover’ applying the policy excess you have contracted. In third party policies only, the company can open the claim but will have to wait for the Consortium to publish the areas affected by winds of intensity greater than 120 km/h

Kind regards

For those who for one reason or another have not yet been able to report the damages to the consortium, please do not bother about the principle of the 7-day communication deadline established by Spanish insurance law. The legal term in Spain for communications to the consortium is two years and the consortium itself indicates on its website that there will be no impediment to attend the damages of exceeding this period.

Good morning to all,

We have seen several comments of people who have not been able to contact the spanish Consortium either due to language, saturation of their phone line or not disposing of an 'electronic ID' for an online opening.

We can help (free of charge) in opening the file at least for the consortium to assign an expert to start assessing the damages.

Regards

Hello, just a little update concerning the Consortium's procedure for full identification to whom it may concern.

This week we have seen that the consortium experts have begun to contact to visit the cases affected by the floods, and would like to share the type of communication the consortium usually sends to those affected people who have been able to open the claim file directly with them, or alternatively to their insurance companies, agents or banks, to prepare a number of documents to be delivered to the expert:

"Good morning,

We inform you that we have a file of the claim that we are processing, shortly our expert will contact you to visit the property and make the valuation.

Below we indicate the documentation which you have to provide to the technician:

  • Copy of ID and CIF (--> ie NIE)
  • Particular Condition of the Policy updated (what you have hired in the Insurance and covering the date of the accident) and the General Conditions (--> copy of the policy document & general terms'and conditions which use to be supplied with the policy documents --> should you not have these papers contact your company)
  • Last receipt of the Policy that covers the date of the incident, that the premium of the payment to the Consortium appears and that is proof of payment (that the date on which the insurance was paid appears. (--> copy of the current receipt/payment proof)

-  Account No., accreditation that the insured is the owner of the account where the compensation will be effective if applicable.

-   Damage Inventory (--> an itemised list of all damaged items (contents + building)
  • Transfer of rights (in cases where there is a mortgage guarantee, there may be a clause granting the rights to the banking entity. It is requested a waiver of compensation and a transfer of property rights), according to the attached document  (--> for those with a mortgage on the property)

- Invoices for repairs or work already done. --> written estimates are alsoaccepted)

- IBI (contribution receipt)

- Photographs of the damage and the day of the accident.  "

Hope this is helpful.

Kind regards
