As an animal lover,  I find it very frustrating at the amount of dogs that are left either outside, or in doors all day, whilst their owners go to work.  The result is stressed dogs who bark continually, and of course when one starts they all start.  Can anything be done about this?

We have quite a few dogs in our area including us with 1 dog. Luckily all are responsible owners.  I do however sympathise with your situation as we have neighbours who come for holidays next door and they go out during the day and leave their 2 dogs out who bark most of the time which sets of all the others. We end up keeping ours in when they are here. Be interesting to see anymore replies.

Blame the inconsiderate and irresponsible owners not the dogs, it is one thing I don’t like about living in Spain.

Hi, we also live in Gran Alacant (Montefaro) and have the same problem.  It is not so much that the barking bothers me, it is that I feel upset for the dogs who are obviously distressed.

I'm not sure but I think you will have to go to the local police and request a denuncia ( apologise for spelling)

It's not like it is in UK where we would complain to the council as the police would never involve themselves with issues such as these, here the local police deal with such matters. If you have a " managing committee" you could ask them if they would speak with the owners in the first instance.

Have you tried talking with the owners ? Maybe they don’t know they have an unhappy dog.

We are in Puerto Marino and have the same problem when we are out, it's an anxious bark as the poor thing is put out in the downstairs apartment in the utility space, so no wonder it barks as it's such a small area for a medium size dog, do you report this to the town hall first?
