Dear All, I am trying to find the most cost effective and least stressful way of getting my Cat AJ from Leeds to Alicante, he is currently in a cattery in Leeds, I am being quoted approximately £500 for someone to collect him from Leeds and to meet up with the driver in Madrid, can anyone offer or do they know of any cheaper way to do this in the next 7 - 10 days?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Gary

Air Transport companies (not all) carry animals as cargo and provide all necessary outfit, and it's same day delivery. Check with BA.

The best solution is to contact one of the myriad ‘pet transport’ companies in UK. Most of them could organise air transport if you felt it necessary, but our two cats were brought overland with absolutely no problem whatsoever. We had them collected from a cattery local to the company, as that meant they weren’t stressed in our UK house by removers etc. They were then delivered to a cattery near to our proposed property here to await collection when we had completed on our purchase and had somewhere secure for them to come!  As I remember, it was around 400 sterling for the transport and associated costs, plus the catteries. This struck us as perfectly reasonable and meant we didn’t have to worry about them at all.

Just ensure that the transport outfit is DEFRA registered, insured and compliant with all requirements

Hi we brought our dog from Durham to Benijofer last year at £350. Lovely people, very caring they actually bring the animals themselves so you meet them before the event. Email me if you want her contact number [email protected]
