I have just come out to GA this week and notice the buses are running a much reduced service from last year, eg the urbanisation bus only runs until 13.20 on weekdays and the Alicante/Santa Pola bus is every 2 hours. Is this the new regular timetable or is it reduced because of the pandemic?

I too have noticed this. In fact it was only confirmed when I read the latest little a freebie (Gran Alacant Advertiser). I suspect it is due to lack of users. Also the little train is not running due to the fact that it was involved in a crash so I am told we are unlikely to see this back till late next year. As I don’t drive I rely on the urban bus so I feel quite isolated and now can’t even go to the beach. Really not good.  I have to ask friends to take me to  the Commercial centre to do a big shop. I bought in Gran Alacant late 2016 and chose the location for the fact it had public transport and, I thought,  a taxi rank at the top of my road! I subsequently found out there were no taxis and the bus service has reduced over time, Is seems it is expected that everyone has a car/drives.  I used to use the bus a lot when it was the small 16 seater. They changed provider and started  using big buses then the provider complained that they were running empty most of the time., My fear is that this will become permanent and we will lose buses altogether.
