Hi, we are booked to come to Gran Alacant on 19th July and while we had accepted our holiday wouldn't be happening, the situation keeps changing. I was just wondering how it is all looking from the Gran Alacant side, we would be travelling from Scotland if it goes ahead.

What is the restaurant/bar etc situation likely to be ?

As from today the majority of Spain, especially the Costas is moving to Phase 2 which allows all shops to open, communal pools and certain accesses to beaches at local town hall discretion where social distancing and health and safety regulations can be met. It was announced yesterday that the Prime Minister of Spain is going ask the parliament this week to lift the state of alarm on 21st June which means as I understand it we will return to some form of normality!

Have just read that people from UK (as well as other countries) will not be allowed into Spain while their countries infection rate remains high.

A lot can change in a month though so fingers crossed

Totally true in what you say may happen in a month...as it has over the last one.

Data day on day from Johns Hopkins below...

Hope it works through for you, in fact for all of us...

As of today the Carabassi beach is fully open (before only for walking) and also the pools on Altomar 2 are also open as from today.

Bars/restaurants are also open, with limited capacity of 50% outside and I believe 40% inside (the inside is only from today).

Not sure what the situation will be regarding PPE in July, but at the moment it is mandatory to wear a mask when in the street if you cannot keep 2m distance and also in all supermarkets, shops etc.  One the state of alarm finishes on June 21st (if it gets passed through Congress on Wednesday)  Sanchez will be handing over future social distancing restrictions to the Autonomous Communities.

This is on the N332 Facebook page today:   From this Monday (today) beaches will begin to open in areas in phase 2.Each Town Hall will decide when they will open again. For example;- Alicante and Elche ( La Marina) will open their beaches this Monday 1st June.- Torrevieja; Monday 8th June- Benidorm; Monday 15th June(We advise you to visit the website of your Town Hall to find out when the beaches of your area will open.)

Hi Jaybee,

Spain has tentatively suggested they will reopen their borders from 1 July, but if we have an increase in the infection rate, that could well change.  Even then, Spain's Tourism Minister, Maria Reyes Maroto, has said borders will only open to visitors from countries where Covid-19 is under control - currently, that means Germany and the Nordic countries.  She said the UK's infection rate "still had to improve" before Britons will be allowed to visit.

Kind regards,

Kim

Wish some members would stop targeting us with the same brush as one says ! I live on a beautiful coastline and marina.tyne & wear  Huge beaches too in Tynemouth. Not and I say not been full at all .. we were in Albir & horadora for a month jan to feb. We are also waiting to get back to our rental property from April on the car ferry. Folk we know bought propertys our in Spain waiting to get there keys out there. Most of us been tested too and will test again and done the rules too .. I’m nhs newly retired .. it’s the governments fault too the way Dominic Cummings has went about and saying he’s not bothered what we think !! He’s the third one to break all rules having the virus too !! the death figures for Covid 19 are not fully true either ! So stop slaying all us hard worked retired British waiting to start out retirements by saying we should not be allowed. Wake up and smell the coffee !!! it’s boring listening to you moaning day by day ! Negativity!! Yawn yawn

🌈🌈🌈🌈✌️😎😎😎😎 have a lovley day 😎

Hi C10DEN,

I don't know why you've quoted my post, I haven't "targeted" you or anyone else.  In fact, I've been sympathetic to British holiday-makers and home-owners, who may not be allowed to travel to Spain this summer.  That is a decision made by the Spanish government, based on information about the UK's infection rate - I've simply reported what the Spanish government has said on the matter.

Kind regards,

Kim
