Hi, has anyone flown by Ryanair from Spain to England (Manchester) very recently.  I have been double vaccinated here in Spain and have booked a Day 2 test for arrival in UK.  However, I keep getting conflicting information from websites as to which Covid Test I need for entering UK.  I have booked an Antigen test with the new Quiron Health centre in Gran Alacant for this  Tuesday morning (3 Aug)  to fly Thursday morning (5 Aug|).  Is this test sufficient?

I flew back with Ryanair on 26th and Antigen test is all that is required from an accredited laboratory. You need to upload results to their Webb site. They will also check double vaccinated certification, confirmation you have booked day 2 PCR test and U.K. locator documents. It’s much easier to have paper copies

Hi bobbiedrever

We flew from Alicante to Manchester yesterday and the antigen is accepted for double vaccinated.  Strongly recommend a print out of the link to the results as we downloaded to phone and the link wouldn't load when asked to view . A few tense moments until finally loaded on phone after several attempts.  We were finally allowed to board . Hope this helps . Annie

Good morning,

I am in the same situation and have gone round in many circles on the UK government website trying to work it out.

The fact that there appears to be a difference between TRAVELLING to and RETURNING to the UK has made me interpret the rules to be different depending on where you normally reside. My take on it is that if you are resident in the UK an antigen test is all you need to RETURN home, but if you live in spain and are visiting the UK you need a PCR.

I may of course be mistaken, but as I am a Spanish resident I'm not taking any chances and just going for the more expensive PCR.

Happy travels!

We are resident in spain, but husband is NHS uk jabbed and i am spain jabbed. Also 15 yr old daughter currently jabbed. We travekled to Uk last week via brittany ferries. We only needed antigen test for entry, (done at Imed hospital) but obviously needed to book day 2 and day 8 tests and isolate, (as we reaide in eu)although hubby only booked day 2 and not isolate,  but have since read that he should technically isolate as he lives in EU. But all that has changed this morning anyway with the new rules of accepting Eu covid jab pass

We returned 28/7 with Ryanair and had to show our letter proving we’d had a negative ANTIGEN test, within 3 days of flying and we also had to prove we’d booked our day 2 PCR test here in the UK.

Thanks for all your replies. The confusion I have is, when we return to spain, our daughter who is unjabbed, (i missed the 'un' bit on my first post) will need a pcr test. Different operators say different things. Is the '72 hours' required before departing england or before arrival in spain? It is going to make quite a difference as we have 2 nights on the ferry
