My wife and I need our second COVID jabs (we had our first in England) in order to visit relatives without the need to quarantine. Can you please advise the nearest centers to Gran Alacant where we can we can get jabs. A further complication is my first jab was Astra Zeneca and my wife's Pfizer. Any help would be really appreciated.

Hi Baz38,

Are you Spanish residents and do you have Spanish state healthcare, or private health insurance?

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Kim, we are living in Spain post Brexit as we have sold our property in the UK and are in the process of applying for Spanish residency. We do not have private healthcare at the moment but  have received our S1 certificates. On reflection it may be our best option to fly to England and get our second jabs there. Regards Baz

Sorry Baz, I keep needing to ask you questions: are you Irish citizens, or UK citizens who've moved to Spain, post Brexit, with a visa?

I'm not suggesting that you can't access the vaccination on State healthcare in Spain with your S1 (although you would first need to register the S1s with your local INSS office, in order to obtain a SIP card/number from your local health centre), but depending on the status of your residency application, you may be correct in suggesting that it will be easier - and quicker! - to return to the UK.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Kim, We are UK citizens who moved to Spain post Brexit without visas. As you say, it will probably be easier returning to England for our second jabs. Regards, Baz

Hi Baz,

If you came to Spain without visas, how have you progressed your residency applications, as they have to be started in the UK?  Nevertheless, if the applications have been submitted, depending on how long it's been since you arrived in Spain, it may not be advisable to leave the country.  However, if the applications have yet to be submitted, I would definitely recommend returning to the UK for your second jab - and make sure you get your passports stamped on exit and re-entry to Spain, to ensure you're not classed as over-stayers!

Feel free to PM me if you would like to discuss this in more detail.

Kind regards,

Kim

Kim,

not directly related to the topic but as you mention it in your post - when we left Alicante airport last week our (UK) passports were not stamped. There were no border control staff at the departure gate. When we asked the ground crew at the gate they said "they do it differently now".  I don't know what that means, perhaps something linked to the airline systems. Our passports were stamped on entry.

We have kept our boarding passes just in case!

Aitch.
