I believe that only the driver is allowed in the car to get shopping, but my friend, who is currently over on holiday doesn't have a car. Would I get fined if I took her to Mercadona with me? Any advise, please.

"People travelling for work-related reasons will need special certificates confirming the necessity of their visit, with a maximum of two people allowed per car in such situations, according to Levante.

In all other situations, the Guardia Civil will demand drivers ride alone."

The object of the restrictions is to avoid as far as possible close interaction with others so to begin with, unless of course she is already staying with you, then you shouldn't really be mixing with each other at all.

There will almost always be other options to driving someone to the shops and those should be explored first, can she walk, is there public transport, if she can drive you can lend her your car to go shopping herself.

In short you should do whatever best upholds the aims and purposes of the restrictions and be prepared to defend your actions as a justifiable necessity if challenged, if that is not the most convenient then unfortunately so be it.

Unless she is vulnerable/disabled, you shouldn't be visiting her at all. As Jorge said, do the shopping for her. It would also be advisable for her to consider getting home from Spain asap rather than wait for the planned end to her holiday.

Thank you. Yes, my friends flight was cancelled but her & her husband managed to get a flight for next week. I will get her any shopping but just wanted confirmation. Thank you for all your comments.
