Hi folks

Does anyone have any definitive details of the bus times from Alicante to Santa Pola and return, it was mentioned in another forum that buses are now running only every two hours but don’t know if that is true.   I know the tourist train is off at present but why the local bus has to stop at 1.30 I just don’t understand. If the new hotel in GA centre opens later this year, it will mean that guests, especially elderly or with children, will be marooned in GA centre with no public transport to move outside the area or even down to the beach. It seems like tourism to this area is being discouraged, which is such a shame. The taxi service is practically non existent and the airport bus is very limited too. It’s not too bad getting a taxi from the airport but I think it is expensive for the distance to GA at 20/25 euros.

We live a similar distance to our local UK airport and the cost is under £10. Does anyone know if there are any plans to increase the frequency of the buses when the hotel opens or when this Covid pandemic declines.
I would be interested to hear what people have to say on this subject.

Thank you for your help. I have arrived in GA and it is so quiet. I hope everybody is well and all the little businesses survive this awful situation.

Gran Alacant is a residential area. Benidorm encourages tourists.

Why build a hotel right in the centre and another under planning if they don’t want tourists.
I am not a resident but own my own place here which I visit as often as possible.  I love it here but I notice that there are a lot of elderly people who love a nice quiet area to live, just want to get around a bit more by public transport. Benidorm is not to all tastes.

The hotel is not targeted at tourists, but rather the business people who visit the industrial estate and Alicante and Elche. Don't you see it has no gardens. Hotels are not only for tourists, you know.

Good luck keeping all the bars and restaurants open without the tourists ! Thankfully we haven't encountered too many people with the same attitude as Janiceroquero towards the tourists.
