We own a holiday home in Gran Alacant and have put a deposit on a vehicle for collection on Friday.
They require Driving licence, NIE , but also proof of address in Spain.
can anyone tell us which document this is? We haven’t bought all our house purchase documents with us on this occasion and need to get daughter to send it over but it would help to point her in the right direction.
Thank you

You are trapped, intentionally or not. If you cannot furnnish proof of residence and in order not to loose your deposit, the only possibility I see is a "matricula verde" green license plate valid for 30 days, sufficient time to sort out all the remaining possibilities. In this case the vehicle is sold w/o VAT (21%) and any other taxes if applicable (i.e. impuestro de matriculacion). In any case the seller must supply the COC w/o extra charge charge - it's your loegal right.

I don't know why killjoy is talking about proof of residence, non residents can buy cars.

For proof of address your property deeds will be the gold standard but absent those utility bills (originals) ought to prove sufficient.

Get your daughter to send you a copy of the deeds to back those up.

It's totally bonkers to suggest that you're at risk of losing your deposit!

I agree with Darro, I am a non resident and bought a car. NIE and utility bill along with a UK driving license was all I needed.

The easiest way is to arrange a Gestor to do it, but they will need, presumably, certificate of death, probate etc. They need all the car documentation and your information.

We did this recently, in case of this event, we put our small second car in my name. It took approx 3 weeks. You will need to contact your insurance agent also to advise them what is happening as they will need to cancel the current insurance and reissuein your name.

Are you actually in Spain atm? The house will also presumably need to be transferred? Much of this depends on the terms of the will, but you may need to consult a lawyer here to sort out any legalities.

Thank you Abaco has dealt with all the legal aspects regarding probate the house transfer etc it is now just the car.

When I am back in spain will ask Abaco to put me in touch with a Gestor as I have all the legal documents .

Many Thanks
