Any help appreciated - many moons ago we sold our holiday apartment on Costa Blanca (2007) but have NIE and bank account - we always planned to come back permanent nearer retirement  but this is still 7 years away for hubby - but then Brexit kicked in and then Covid - our plan now/was to move end of summer 2021 - or would it be prudent to do prior to Brexit ? - we could not live permanently in Spain till end of August 2021 due to family commitments, but we would be prepared to take rental contract prior to move - Our situation is I would not work on arrival in Spain but husband who works in oil industry would be travelling back and forward on a 3 week rotation (every 3 weeks flying to uk to go offshore and then returning to Spain for 3 weeks  - any help or advice appreciated - how can we move our dream forward - should we be looking at Visas or residency ?? happy to pay for services to move this on

I have no idea what a “frontier worker” is ? Would it make a difference and in what way ?

I appreciate your input but i really need to know when UK leaves EU and my husband has residency in Spain will his visits to Uk be limited as this wouldn’t work for us due to continuous travel back to uk on his work rotation

We will seek appropriate tax advice but my question is not tax related at the moment - it’s more about travel between 2 countries and the best way forward for our circumstance  - i.e if we apply for residency in Spain does the 90 days in 180 apply when going back to the uk as it would us  visiting  Spain if not resident - any offshore workers on this forum with knowledge - to put it better if we apply for Spanish Residency would we still be able to return to uk without limits on duration ?

Hi

We are just starting our residency process and reading everything we can find on legalities of travelling back to uk once a resident in Spain.

From what we can gather once your are no longer resident in the uk you can only spend the 90 days there

Hope this is of some use

Good luck 😃 sun

Oh dear looks like nothing will work for us can’t become resident until next year but next year my husband would need to travel 3 weeks to his work rotation so would be in uk for 3 then Spain for 3 - looks like we are not fitting into any category or should I say he is not - I am straightforward 😂

...d 😂

I wonder would he be classed as being in the uk for 21 days if he flys offshore to an installation ? Arrive in uk and fly to installation the following day - anyone know of a service that we can pay for to explore all this ?

I get that tax is important but our first concern is to establish if there would be restrictions for him flying frequently into uk if we take up Spanish residency - would hate to think that we took Spanish residency then found out that his work rotation offshore exceeded the amount of days he was allowed to enter Uk or be away from Spain - he is on permanent/static installation in UK waters
