Fraudsters and thieves at work in Arenales del Sol
Hello everyone. I want to let you know that there are brazen thieves at work in this area. Then someone returns to the urbanisation a few days later, and rings your front door bell . Tells you he was given your name by someone, as you are a friendly person (in fact it is on our letterbox). Story he told is that he is from house # … (near to us) and was robbed this morning. Everything was taken, credit cards, money keys...bla bla bla. The locksmith has been and changed locks but won't give him the keys without being paid. He can't get enough out of teller machine because of his daily limit, now he is locked out of apartment until Monday. Can you help me??? He tells such a convincing story and seems to know enough about the urbanisation that it's feasible.
When we later checked the house # he spoke of, we found that he is NOT the owner and YES indeed they were robbed, 3 days earlier, everything was taken (as he had described) to the point that the owner can't go to work as uniform, security pass and passport was taken. The house was broken into by way of glass panel by front door and took keys off the table to get out with his possessions. It was in the morning, and the owner was in the pool at the time.
It makes us wonder if this is how they 'case the joint'. Fortunately our house has security bars on all windows and glass panels. This person was tall and thin, scruffy, middle age, spoke perfect English with a German accent. He actually said he was from Germany close to Dutch border. Spoke very loud!!! Be wary please. We reported this to the police, they came but there isn't enough for them to go on.
Moral of story, don't trust anyone, EVEN the non-Spanish and get to know your neighbours even a few doors away.
Just makes you sick to think you were talking to a culprit and now he's got away.
