I changed to night tariff with iberdrola and received a  charge 109 euros. This wasn't explained at the time and I wondered if this was the usual charge.

Thanks

We didn't pay anything.

I'd expect them to charge a penalty if you'd previously changed tariffs and twelve months hadn't elapsed before you changed again.

If that's not the case, and you also didn't change the contracted power rating, then you'll have to ask them what the charge is for.

A simple piece of advise. Do ALL communications with Iberdrola by email on line so that when they change their tack you have them by the b.....s!!

Thanks it's seems incredible that you can get charged 109 euros for only changing a tariff. I was in their office and it wasn't mentioned. I have emailed them but no reply so far.

You really need to email in Spanish as they will have to find someone who can reply in English. Quote your account number and say "Ruego que me avisen porqué me han cobrado €109 por un cambio de potencia / tarifa?"

Sorry if this is somewhere out there already, but we have a holiday home in Gran Alacant and I am wondering how much extra I would be charged to change to a higher power rating? when all the family are there or during the winter, I want to be able to use all appliances without the power tripping all the time. Currently if we have Aircon units on and plug a hairdryer in, or we want to put heaters in each room in the winter,  it trips out.
It’s not very often we will need the extra but it would be great not to have to worry about it.

Sorry, but that's impossible to quantify.

You'd have to pay a qualified electrician to issue a boletín certifying your installation is suitable for an upgrade in contracted power, which might incur costs for rewiring, new breakers, etc.

Your electricity supplier might make a charge for doing the upgrade.

Then you've got the increased standing charge incurred by the upgrade, which you'd be able to estimate by looking at what you're paying at present, then factor that up by the percentage increase in the contracted power, remembering to take taxes into consideration when you do the sums. For example, if you increased from 3.5 to 5.75, the standing charge would go up by 65%.

We didn't have any electricians visit. I was charged 109 euros from iberdrola and tariff changed. No further tripping of electricity. No change in standing charge.

To organise this we went to the office in Santa Pola. Our house is in Puerto Marino gran alacant.
