Hi all

My latest bill from iberdrola is 26.62 euros.

I understand the service tariff of approx 9 euros and IVA of approx 3 euros, bit my flat is locked and the power is off and I have a electricity charge of 16.55 euros for a month,

Is this normal ?

Thanks

That's normal, mine is €18 when we are not in the house.

You will be charged the daily contracted power rate. Depending on the amount of power you are contracted for at so much per Kw per hour.

I thought that was the other charges,

Just seemed odd they charged me 16.55 for energy when the power is off,

I understand the other charges tho.

Thanks

On my bill, power contracted comes under the heading of energy. I am on 5.75kw so have 8 cents per kw for 12 hours a day and 0.003 cents for 12 hours. That would be 14.60 per month on peak and 58 cents off peak so total power costs come to just over 15 euro a month.

On top of that is other charges such as meter rental at 2 cents a day, then there is electricity tax and IVA at 21%.

The bill shows electricity I have used, power contracted for and electricity tax all come under the heading energy.

Meter rental and IVA come under the Other heading.

Depends on how much power you are contracted for and what plan you are on. Some will pay more to have a steady supply whilst others are happy with a lower power rating.

Some contracts are lower standing charges due to holiday homes whilst having higher electricity charges when in use and so on.

But it's the power you are contracted for that makes the main difference.
