Hello lovely people, hope you can help. We recently purchased a villa in El Raso that has a cold/hot air unit with the big fan unit  (?) on our solarium. I know the external fans can get noisy but my husband feels that it may be worth getting it serviced even though everything appears to work perfectly (we have used both the cold and hot air).

1) what do members think?

2) can you recommend anyone that can do a service

3) would they service everything or just the external fan until on the solarium

4) approximate costs involved

Thank you in ad

Hi

If the indoor unit is easily accessible, the first thing to do is to clean the filters. Simply open the front cover - you will then see the filters inside. Use a vacuum cleaner, or remove and wash them. It's amazing how much difference it can make!

Cheers

There is nothing to service on the outdoor fan unit (condenser), if it’s noisy then nothing can be done to reduce the noise, it’s just the way the fans operate. If it’s more noisy than before, and sounds unhealthy (rattling etc) then the fan bearings may be worn, and you will likely need a whole new outdoor unit.
As Stevec2x has stated, cleaning of the indoor filters (especially if clogged with dust etc) will make a big difference to cooling & heating temps, but this won’t make any difference e to the noise emitted at the outsmdoor unit.

Have a word with Steve Birkett.

Great guy and  has done some work for us.

He probably installed your aircon originally as he seems to installed the vast majority of systems when the houses were being built on El Raso.

He lives on El Raso
