What a really beautiful place is Guadamara my partner and I really like it however our only concern is that it may become too quiet when the season ends ? We are planning to move to the region next year, one of us taking early retirement and one ( Spanish speaking Portuguese) carrying on working, looking to make new friends and take up new hobbies etc, don’t want to be too isolated, we are in the area at the moment and wondered if any one has any suggestions where we might visit ?

Thanks

Jose

Although we are not permanently in Guardamar we have our holiday home there and go out as much as possible and have spent time there in all months of the year and each time of year has its charms eg we have spent Christmas/New Year for last 2 years and plenty of restaurants open, fantastic beach walking ..... we love it! Look forward to the next few years when we retire and can spend even more time in Guardamar and explore further afield

We live in Guardamar & yes in the winter it is quiet but that is what we love about it however there are still plenty of restaurants open. I would suggest that having a car would be beneficial to you so you have the opportunity of visiting other towns in the area or if you want a bit of night life in the evening. If not you will have to rely on taxis or buses, or better still come over in November or December and see if you still like it.

Hello Jose

Guardamar is a hell hole in June July August and a desert the rest of the year!   Why not try Crevillent?  Small town, very very friendly and CHEAP!

If you need help just drop me a line.

Kind regards

Richard - living 15 years in Crevi

It is not a hell hole at all. It has a beautiful park with birds, ducks peacocks etc. Beautiful beaches and the marina is lovely to walk around and lots of areas to explore. It is more of a Spanish town and like most areas is quiet in the winter.

I pop down a lot from Quesada and is always lovely. Just be aware of possible estate agents telling you otherwise. Crevillente is smaller and even more isolating in winter unless you drive.

From Guardama there is the coastal coach that drops to at all the beaches. Up to Playa Flamenca is €2.50. Only thing is do not run regular so time constraints.

Go with what your heart says as we all have different likes and dislikes.

I did say ´´in the summer´´ when the Madrilenas invade with their packs of dogs..... Crevillent is vibrant all year round.

Well packs of dogs would suit me fine as I love animals. We all have our views but hell hole is an extreme negative and derogatory.

Coming to live here is stressful and quite alien at first and I remember all the negative comments and scare mungers telling me horrendous things that just are not true.

Balance in everything is good with a positive and kind approach.
