I live in the UK and My bank Sabadell are requesting mandatory proof of identity and proof of professional activity.

For my identification I used my passport which as been accepted but how do I prove that I am retired and receiving a pension in the UK, Sabadell are asking for a pension certificate so I have sent my P60 and proof of pension printed off the Direct Gov website in the uk but this isn’t acceptable.

Can anyone suggest the proof I need to send. Thank you

This has been covered many times. Banks are required to show where funds come from with non resident bank accounts. A simple copy of your pension forecast (which you get every year) would suffice in your case. Someone did mention it has a section on their online banking for attachments like this. If in work a P60 would be acceptable as well.

Thank you for replying I have been onto the uk government website and printed off the PAYE summary of all my pensions 2024/25 but that isn’t acceptable. Is the pension forecast different and where would I get it Thank y

Hi

You might find it easier (and cheaper) to ditch Sabadell and use Wise or Revolut instead! Wise in particular are regularly recommended by members of this forum (including me).

You can register for free from UK https://wise.com/

You should get a letter every year telling you what your forecast pension is for the next year. I get one and I live in Spain.

Can't see why a PAYE statement is not acceptable as it is proof of earnings. Maybe they have a list of what is acceptable and some jobsworth can't see that one so computer says no, or something like that.

Wise is also asking people for things like this, as had been posted by some, as they are pushing for bank status.

I have only been getting my pension for 9 months but have found the letter I first

received showing my pension forecast for this year. I will try that. A big thank you for your help

Very strange. Normally they don't bother too much what you send them. I sent last years pension forecast by mail, all in Danish and they mailed back within an hour saying it was accepted.

OK Aslad1

In that case, open a euro account within Wise. This will give you another IBAN (starting with the letters "BE" for Belgium). Give this new IBAN to your electricity/water/whatever supplier in Spain. You should be able to do that by registering with your suppliers website using your NIE (you may also need the contract number).

You can use your Wise card at ATMs whilst in Spain as well as use it to pay for everything.

Hope this helps!

Cheers

Steve

I have been given 60 days to comply and then they freeze my account. I have telephoned them twice but they are vague on exactly what they want anyway sent PAYE statement and pension forecast 2023/2024 and I have contacted the uk government for proof of my pension award. Hopefully that will do it
