There is a builders merchant in Los Perez that sells firewood. They are  the main supplier for log burning stoves in the area

I don't know your area, but there are plenty of log yards in my area. Prices range from 9 cents a kilo for lemon to 16 cents for holm oak.

Drive on the weighbridge, fill your car, back on the weighbridge, then go and pay.

I'm currently watching the weather forecasts, looking for several days where the consensus is no rain, then I'll be making a few trips to get two tonnes of holm oak.

Thank you...we have just bought a country house in Days Vieja and this year will be our first winter so I am getting a bit worried as there is any other heating in the house!

Your location shows as Guardamar - I suggest you change that.

I don't know what there is at Daya Vieja or area, but if you head for Almoradí, at the little roundabout after passing over the AP7, turn right. At the main road by the CEPSA garage, turn right. Straight on at the two motorway roundabouts, and a few yards after passing the second roundabout there's a log yard on your right. I've not seen a weighbridge, so don't know how he prices his logs.

If you're willing to travel a bit further, I can give you details of the one I use - between Rafal and Callosa. They've got large stocks at the moment, which is why I want to get there soon - so I can cherry-pick the sizes I want.

Thank you...it would be perfect if you could give me the name and directions to the woodyard which you use and I will head over there next week sometime!

This is where it is:

https://www.google.es/maps/place/03369+Mudamiento,+Alicante/@38.1129257,-0.8683264,449m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0xd63a362304c4283:0x7b9082a511b8c796!8m2!3d38.1192085!4d-0.8353773?hl=en

Only just noticed that Google show it as Naranjas de la Vega, whereas it's actually called Hermanos Medrano.

Head for Almoradí, at the little roundabout after passing over the AP7, turn right.

At the main road by the CEPSA garage, turn left on the roundabout.

At the next roundabout, take the second exit (the first one is just a little service road) signed Rafal – i.e. turn right.

Go straight over the next roundabout (the sports centre is off to the right).

At the traffic lights at a crossroads, go straight ahead.

After a few yards, there’s a tight left-hand bend followed by a long straight, and then another tight left-hand bend. Immediately round this bend, there’s Bar El Amigo with a Fanta sign outside (now closed).

After El Amigo, you can see some white factory buildings just round the next left-hand bend. Opposite the factory buildings, on the right is lane signed for (El) Mudamiento. You can if you want turn right there, then left at the end and go through the village, but it's easier to carry straight on at this point.

You next go round a right bend, then see ahead of you a tight left hand bend with chevrons. There's also a road going straight ahead, but you want to take the right hand turn just before the bend - watch out for the speed hump immediately before it.

At the end of this narrow lane, turn left (you can see El Mudamiento village on your right).

After a few metres the road forks, you want to follow the right fork, i.e. keep on the 'main' road.

Just follow this road to its end, and the log yard is on the left. Stop and have a look at what choice they've got.

Drive on the weighbridge, which is on the far side of the building. Out of your car and go to the left-hand window - one of the girls in the office will give you the nod when she's printed the weight.

I haven't checked this year, but their hours are usually Mon-Fri 8.00 – 2.00, 4.00 – 8.30, Sat 8.00 - 2.00.
