No matter how you get in you still have to quarantine when you arrive back home
Not disputing the quarantine on return, the comment I disputed was you couldn’t leave the UK with a valid reason.

Perhaps it’s still down to who is manning border control.

Its still illegal to leave UK with a valid reason
If you go on gov.uk. its states whats excepted. Padron one of them.
You were lucky they did not know it was out of date, as it only states the day it started.
My partner got through with only having a Padron

When I left the UK 10 days ago I just ticked the box alternative, then "legal reasons" or something like that. My form was never checked and I was never questioned my reason for leaving the UK.
On arrival in Spain I showed my last years Padron and got through easy.
If you can show a Padron dated before 1st Jan 2021 then that should get you through both the UK end and Spain end.

I think they’re checking the date of the padron being issued. Not the date it was re printed. And as long as that is before jan 1 2021 it’s seeming to be ok.

I have a recently issued padron also two other originals issued to me in my time living as a Resident here in Spain, also on my last visit to the padron office to update my padron needed for official business = requirement of less than three months old, I was also offered my historic padrons, to which I excepted, the official informed me it was always good to have a updated padron for official business that was valid/dated within the last three months. My new padron also has a bar code running down one side. Two copies of each was given to me. The official at Torrevieja padron office was very helpful.

Hi Gary
At passport control we where split into two groups. Those with Residency and / or TIE went though the automatic barriers. Everyone else went to the booths for "mild interrogation" . Lady next to me was showing a letter from the hospital saying her mother was very ill and that was her reason for entering Spain.
The official browsed my Padron and waived me through.
Hope that's useful
Colin
