Exchanging UK driving licence without TIE

Hi Biscuit,

Yes, you do need residency/TIE to swap you driving licence.  We're still waiting for an update from the British Consulate about when the DGT's pre-registration process will be rolled out, in order for people to register, before 25 December 2020, their intention to exchange licences.

Regarding your TIE application, has your gestor submitted your application and supporting documents online, so that you are in the system?  If so, it doesn't matter if you don't get an appointment for your fingerprints before the end of the year.

Thanks Kim. I'll be checking in with my gestor today and I'll be sure to check that I'm in the system. Do you know if there's any way checking this? Ideally, if the application is in the system, I'd like to have some evidence of that in case I need it if the process goes over into next year.

I believe there is (I did a swap, rather than a first-time application).  I remember Lancelot, a member who has already done this, posting about it recently.  I'll have a look for his answer and update this thread, but hopefully he'll beat me to it! 😄.
