Hi I’m Linda

I’m planning on moving to Guardamar del Segura in the next 12 months or so. I’ve been to visit several times in the last 2 years. I’m hoping to rent for 12 - 18 months to begin with and I seem to see a lot of long term rental properties available not just for the autumn/ winter period.

Does anyone have any help or advise ?

I’m looking to live there  permanently.

I read the reply to Steve who was looking to rent for 6 month, is it better to rent longer, more choice?

Thanks

We live on El Rado in Gurdamar Campo, a great Urb., 5 mins drive from Guardamar. Moved here Jan 2019 and we love it. Multicultural,  with bars and restaurants , pharmacy ,small grocery shop etc. Then nearby lovely Spanish Guardamar , beaches  if you want it more lively Torrevieja just sling the coast. It's a beautiful area,  with plenty to do. Hope you enjoy living here.

Thanks Karen

Appreciate your reply.

I live in a town similar size to Guardermar del Segura but less sunshine, I’m really just looking for a nice home to live and Torrevieja is to big I think, as I will be on my own ( until I get visitors) I want somewhere where I feel at home and safe - I’ve visited several times in the last 2 years and it felt like a nice place to live, that’s why I’m looking to rent and live (healthier) long, long term. You sound like you love it, which is good.

Thanks

Linda

I have an apartment next to the meridional hotel at the front of Guardamar (location below).

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Hotel+Meridional/@38.078959,-0.648618,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xa1905e267c45566b?sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjY5KTNqd7iAhUKoRQKHWStDk4Q_BIwFHoECA4QCA

The issue with long term lets in Guardamar, or certainly in the most popular/beachfront type locations, is that in the summer months, they rent for considerably more - perhaps you can get the equivalent of a months-or two equivalent long term rental, but in a week in summer rental peak periods.

I don't rent mine out, though advised it could get as much as potentially €1000 (3-bed front line) in a week, which suggests why there may be a shortage of a certain type of property for the long term - over the summer.

I am sure you will be able to find something to rent, but you may need to go 'a little further back' - perhaps towards the park or behind (near the town hall), as popular short term apartments closer to the front, you may struggle a little with long term rental.

Guardamar is also very popular with the Spanish - and many from large cities like Madrid, have second homes and also use them all summer (another reason for issues of availability). In recent years, has become more and more international - but still popular with many locals.

It is a little quiet in the winter, though not sure that's a bad thing - shops in the main still open (apart from Carrefour express), Torrevieja 5-10 min drive if you want busier. Los Montesinos perhaps 15 mins drive at most and again Quesada / Rojales, maybe 10 mins drive, so in the middle of a few different areas.

It is a lovely place, beautiful park + a separate dog park, plenty of places to eat - over 100 restaurants. However, it is not generally a very noisy place (fiestas aside) full of noisy nightclubs - a little more family friendly, rather than the most exciting place. I visited for a number of years before buying there & couldn't be happier with the area. To me feels a little more relaxed than Torrevieja - smaller.

Hi,

We also have an apartment just along the road from you in Guardamar on Avenida De La Libertad so it would be good to make contact as all our neighbours are Spanish and unfortunately our Spanish is not too good for conversations etc. Would you like to send us a private message with your contact details?

Cheers

Hi

Thanks for your message and more info, I’m looking not right on the front I’ve seen some 10 - 15 minutes walk away and that would suit me. As I’m working at the moment it’s just trying to get over for a couple of breaks to check things out and that’s why this Forum is great - nice that people like yourselves take  time to respond and lots of topics for me to delve into.

Can’t wait to get back to Guardamar .

Thanks a
