Hello there

Can anyone offer help us please

We are coming to Guadamar to my elderly in laws house in a couple of weeks to sort out their affairs as sadly neither have a good state of mind

The house has not been lived in for around 7 years now. We expect to find all utilities terminated.

Our intention is  to pay off charges against the house and get power, water etc restored and make the house habitable again.

We know only the name of the electricity supplier but as we do not speak Spanish we don't know where or how to begin once we arrive.

We'd appreciate any help and advice.

Thank you

Jo

Hi

I will ask my friend if they can help at , but he works,so will let you know.

May I ask (you can private message me if you like?) are you going to be renting the property out or thinking of selling it?

Hello Pete

Thank you for you reply.

Our brother as the eldest, has Power of Attorney. He has given us the deeds to the house.

We will take with us a copy of proof of his Power of Attorney together with a letter from him authorising us to act on the house. However I'm not sure this will suffice .

We have the details of the Spanish solicitor dad used so shall call him first ( if he is still around )Will try yours also

Many thanks for your help it's much appreciated

Kind regards

Jo

It may be this one as they generally supply the areas around there

Also there is a Solicitor we use for our Fiscal dealings and also used them to buy our house a number of years ago. They have English speakers there and are very helpful on email if you want to ask any questions in advance of using them for anything:

http://www.abacoadvisers.com/

They are in Torrevieja but in all the time we've used them we have only had to go in the offices once, when we did the house sale, as they do most things by email.

Fontanals (mentioned above) & Abaco have both been recommended on our other local forums, so you could see which one feels best for you.

Hi,

If you would decide to sell the house, let me know. Maybe we can help.

You can pm me if you want more information.

Good luck and enjoy your stay in Spain despite the problems to solve.

Regards,

Wim.
