Hi

My husband and I are looking to relocate to Spain 2020 and we are possibly looking at Guardamar Del Segura area,  We want to be close to the coast and want plenty of outside space. We want somewhere there is a good mix of Spanish/ Brits/ European community. We don't want to live in an area where its full of English.

What is it like in the winter there, is there much to do and good expat community?

We are after advice on best urbanisations and have seen mixed reviews and im a bit confused.

Does anyone have any advice?

We have a budget of about £180K and want plenty of outside space but walkable to some amenities so any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

Denise

We live in Portico Mediterráneo which is about a 30 minute walk from Guardamar or La mata the other end, the main bus from Alicante also stops there and you are a 15 minute walk from the beach (no bars here so very peaceful) the urbanisation is mainly holiday homes those living here are British, Spanish, German & Eastern European, everyone gets on very well. Guardamar is quiet in the winter with many restaurants closing for the winter months, however if you have a car you can go to more  lively places or catch the bus. If you google El Moncayo Estate agents you will be able to search the different areas around Guardamar ( we used this Estate agent to show us around different properties & found them very good whilst renting a flat in Guardamar for 3 week) Personally I think  Guardamar is a lovely town which still has a Spanish feel and I believe to be the best beach in the area, but I am biased.

Hi Jan.

Thankyou so much for the information, that is very useful.

I will make contact with the estate agents as will be good to get a better idea on where is best for us.

Sorry one more question , what is the expat community like.  We would like to get involved and meet new people while we are there.

Many thanks

Denise

Compared with  Quesada & Torrevieja it’s a lot smaller but very friendly we have some very good friends I Guardamar & the surrounding area. My wife works does a days voluntary work in the charity shop where she has met some lovely people.

A Place in the Sun - Channel 4 tonight at 4pm (British time) is about a couple looking for a place in Guardamar.

May be worth a watch?

Thanks Jan.   I seem to have set my heart on the area.  I like the fact it’s not far from bigger places to utilise in the quieter months.  Thankyou so much.  Hope to see you all next year. 🤗

Hi Martin.

Yes I’ve got that recorded so can’t wait.  I’m hoping to visit the area in February to have a good look around and then hope to rent for a few months when we move out before we buy.

Thanks for your reply
