Hi we are looking to relocate to Costa Blanca and undecided on area.  We are visiting Guardamar to see if this is an area we can settle in.  Would appreciate any feedback on this area please.

Hi Loraine

We live in Gran Alacant just 8 mins from Alicante Airport on your way to Guardamar the area we live us called Puerto Marino we have a Commercial Centre 4 supermarkets and other shops and also a small area for children and upstairs lots of good bars and restaurants there is a good bus service that goes to Benidorm  Alicante and also Santa Pola which is a lively town.  We wlso have a road train that goez around  the area and down to the beach.  Gran Alacant is a growing area with a lot of different areas to live and quite a few places to buy we are about 25 mins drive from Guardamar.  The main centre is called GA Centre look it up, we are under Santa Pola Municipal and only 5 mins drive from the sea.  I think its well worth a visit and am sure you will be pleasantly surprised   Angie

I think you would need to be more specific on what it is you require from a town.

Guardamar is beautiful, extremely busy in the summer and very quiet in the winter.  I don't live there but do know a couple of people that do.  I would expect you would need a car although there is a bus station. There is a sports centre and indoor swimming pool, lovely walks , parks and, of course, the spectacular beach.

I can thoroughly recommend Guardamar where we bought our second home nearly 2 years ago. We have visited at all times throughout the year, including Christmas and  New Year. We love that it is a year round working town with fantastic restaurants many of which are open throughout the year. Fantastic beach walks, cycle/walking paths, parks, sports facilities, close proximity to Alicante airport (25/30 min drive), good local buses (we don’t have a car). If you want 24/7 action and lots of shopping then it’s probably not the place for you but if you want an easy, relaxed ambiance then it’s worth a visit - we love it!

Hi

Thanks for your reply.  We are looking for an area that is within walking distance to a beach but also has amenities close by. I know a that a car will be essential to visit the likes of shopping malls and the larger supermarkets and so.  An area that is not too quiet in winter still has something going on.

Hi it is a good 30 mins walk, but there is a frequent bus and a road train go there, its about 5 mins, just over by car from here in Puerto Marino, there are other areas to live in Gran Alacant which are closer to the beach though.
