Hi all

We've just moved to guardamar and after much research prior, we had not found a school for my daughter. We are looking for any advice as to what type of school to put my 10 year old daughter in. She only speaks very little Spanish and need something ideally close by. Would be grateful for all advice

Hi we are recently in altea. I would suggest state spanish school and not sure what is near you. My 12 uear old is english home schooled and i continue the curriculum out here and can still do igcse's. She is learning spanish and may join the system here but we are yet to find many home schoolers in spain

Hi Lisa

Thank you for your reply. I am interested to find out how I go about home schooling my daughter as this seems the best plan for us at the moment. I am wanting to train as a teacher plus I get to spend the time with my daughter ..win win for me x

My daughter goes to Kings College in Alicante. It's an "english" school ie. Curriculum, exams etc are the same as in the UK. It's fee paying but really good. We chose this route in case she wants to return to the UK for University. There is a school bus which collects and returns to Guardamar.

I am in the process of moving. We have a bungalow in guadama. Two of my children are with me as we drove down from the U.K.left Sunday and got here Monday. (A very long drive). I am a home schooler. I'm interested in your post as my partner wants the children to go to school here as he thinks it's against the law not too. But I would love to continue to HE   I suppose my question is is it legal?

Thank you

We did the drive at the beginning of Sep with 2 dogs and a cat and yes a VERY long drive.

I don't know whether it's legal or not. Our main thought was making sure her exams count in the UK and then she can go to Uni in the UK if she wants but from Kings they can actually go to Uni anywhere in the world.

I feel fees are ok given that the general cost of living here are lower - it balances out.

Let me know if you find out - in the meantime I'll ask some of my Spanish friends see if they know

Hi . We are just following the same path as we would in the uk . English maths igcse, coding art learning an instrument, spanish etc Younger ones are usuall forest school and school subjects. Not illegal here, just frowned upon, uk was just getting recognised so very similar views. I keep intouch with my local uk home ed site also world schooling on FB.  Intergrating with local children we do this through football and gymnastics and dance class. Let me know how you get on x

Hi daisy we will be moving over within the next 4wks with our 9yr old daughter and in the same position as yourselves ideally I want to put her in a Spanish school but not sure of the area we are going to be in as yet . I was going to continue with the same apps as UK schools to keep her up to date with UK curriculum on top of the spainish system.
