Evening All. Can I just ask you guys who have done their Resident Tax Returns, what were you charged. Unfortunately we left ours late & went to a company in Guardamar, who quoted us 300€ for us both, today we get a Bill for €450 to be paid, from what I can see it was pretty straight forward as we both have Irish pensions. Thanks In Advance

As Jim says, you can do it yourself if your finances are relatively straightforward and you have some basic skill with computer and internet. It's not rocket science and you can save yourself a packet. My income comes from a few small private pensions, share dividends and a UK savings account. I've done the return for two years running, no problem at all.

As I've said on other threads, the hardest part, but essential, is to get yourself set up with an electronic certificate by paying a visit to your local SUMA. This allows you to identify yourself to the tax authority website (and other government websites). It's all in Jim's Guides.

Hi, My wife & I type one page each of our income and tax recovereable allowed charities plus expenses on our rented - out villa. I AM NOT computer literate, and our Spanish abogado charged 64euro in total each year, they are proud that our charge has been the same for three years.

Yes, I paid just less than that. I think what tends to be the case is that if you use a Gestor for other things and your tax return is a fairly simple affair they will charge less than 100. Some muchl less. I'm impressed with people who do it themselves but I'm quite happy to pay just to have it done and off my to do list!

Although it wasn't possible this year because of the virus, you can normally take your figures into an Agencia Tributaria office and they do the return for you - for free.
