If you're thinking about buying a property in Spain, one of the biggest things to remember is that the purchase price isn't the only cost you'll need to budget for.

There are several additional costs involved, which can vary depending on whether you're buying a new build or resale property and which region you're purchasing in.

Some of the costs to consider include:

• Property purchase tax
• Notary fees
• Land Registry fees
• Solicitor fees
• Mortgage related costs, if applicable
• Bank and currency exchange costs
• Property valuation
• Community fees
• Ongoing property taxes and utilities

For example, if you're looking at a property advertised at €250,000, it's important to understand what your realistic overall budget should be before you start viewing properties.

The exact costs can vary, so it's always worth getting professional advice based on your individual circumstances.

Are you currently looking at buying in Spain?

What was the biggest surprise for you when you found out about the additional costs of buying?

Feel free to ask any questions below, we're happy to share what we know from helping buyers on the Costa Blanca.

Es muy simple.

El precio del apartamento o casa más 15%  costes laterales más o menos.

Hi

We bought last November and on a NLV. We do not have a mortgage and bought out right.

However we totally don't like where we're living and want to move,  is this even possible or will we be stung with tax?
