Hi, we live in a rural property between La Canalosa and Hondon de las Nieves (Ptda los Calores) and wondered if anyone had any advice on the best broadband service to use. The area is a bit remote, so a fixed line is completely out of the question, and the only mobile network that has any coverage is Movistar. Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions :)

At this time efforts are made to have 5G wireless data lines available within the next 6-8 weeks depending on location. Movistar and Vodafone will put this on the market, however I don't have any details yet.

If you're getting even a sniff of 4g on a phone then a 4g router with external antennas should easily pull in 20Mb+.

The key will be the antennas and the cream of the crop is the Poynting LDPA-92 of which you need a pair to make a the cross polarised array required for optimun 4g LTE reception.

These are not cheap and are not to be confused with cheap junk on eBay etc., Amazon.es list them at €133 apiece.

As it happens I have a pair (one used and the other like new) which came with me from France where I was in the same position as you, in the middle of nowhere with barely anything to speak of on a phone. I also have the 4g router I used with them but TBH although it's perfectly functional a newer one will permit connection of a telephone whic may or may not something you want.

I'm prepared to let the antennas go for say €50 the pair and throw in the router for free, with those all you need is a SIM card to slot into it (from your phone should work) and you're in business!

Thanks! That's extremely helpful. I will look into 4g and let you know about the antennas. Unfortunately I am stuck in London at the moment due to the current travel restrictions, but will be back as soon as practicable!
