Hello there, is your pool a salt pool or a chlorine (tablet) pool? Irrespective of that, as a starter I strongly reccomend that you buy 7 way dip strips via the internet manufactured by AquaChek (stress 7 way, not 3 or 5 way) as that will tell you the parts per million (ppm) of the 7 things that it tests for. Despite what people say, the most important thing to balance initially is the "Total Alkalinity" as that affects the pH i.e low TA will give low pH. Once these two are balanced, get the chlorine level correct then & only then, make sure that the Cyanuric Acid level is correct as Cy acts as a sunscreen for your Chlorine; without it or at low levels of Cy, you chlorine will vanish within a few hours at the height of summer sun & ultra violet exposure. If you have a chlorine tablet pool, then the tablets should contain Cy but not knowing what your starting point is (without any dip strip readings) you might have to add a little, stress a little as over 50 ppm means that you have excess which can only be depleted by draining the pool ....costly to refil. Any further help, just ask. Cheers... sorry, forgot to add "where to buy", try the Ferreteria in Frailes, Ivan the owner speaks good english & will help you. Oh, & never use Chloro Rapio or Chloro Lento to shock treat the pool (cos you are adding even more Cyanuric Acid to it) always use Sodium Hypochlorite & Ivan sells it. Enjoy.
