I am thinking of getting a 28gb data only sim car from SIMYO (who use orange),and using it in my Hewuai B315 router.

I have an external antenna and direct line of site with Col des Rates which is where I think the orange antenna is.

Does anyone have any idea if this will work?

Thanks

Should work but it all depends on whether you can in fact pull in a decent signal from Orange and sometimes the only way to find that out is to suck and see.

Are you using a proper antenna, by which I mean a cross polarised one or a pair of separates, flat panels are pretty useless and often not a great deal better than a routers own internal ones.

Actually I have the choice of two antenna a poynting 4g xpol cross polarised and a yagi directional both of which connect to the two antenna points on the router and are mounted on a pole on the roof. As the sim card is 28gb and only costs 17€ for 30 days and is renewable I thought it made sense to try it and get 4g internet. It seems a cheap deal to me.

I realize this post was some time ago, but I'm very interested to find out how you got on with your attempt to get 4G internet in the Jalon valley.

I'm planning to get a Huawei 4G router and an omnidirectional aerial to mount externally. I think Blu.es offer monthly 4G packages as well.

Any update on hgow it went would be appreciated.

Cheers

Pablo

Thanks for the quick response. Just a few more questions:

Which ariel did you settle on?

Did you point it at the transmitter at the top of Col de Rates?

What sort of data rates are you getting with Orange (download/upload)

Cheers P

I am using the poynting antenna, pointed at the col de rates, and I get 40-60 av upload and 20 - 30 download, but it does vary quite a bit. We watch Netflix and Amazon with no problems

Hi David,

Any particular reason for switching from Simyo yo Orange?  I thought Simyo piggybacked on the Orange network but at lower cost.

I tried using DigiMobil but they appear to be blocking my use of a VPN. Do you know if Simyo block the use of VPN's?

Cheers
