Looking to buy a Property in North Costa Blanca, At the moment, I seem to like Jalon but apparently mosquitoes are terrible and I am a mosquito magnet.  Can you please recommend best area? Pros and Cons? And hopefully not a flood prone area. Appreciate all recommendations.

Many thanks.

Rachelle

Just a personal opinion but I like to be within easy driving distance of the larger coastal towns for the beaches, the shopping, etc. I live in Adsubia, a small village 3km from Pego, which is a small inland town that has all the neccessary facilities, and I'm only 15 minutes drive from Oliva, 20 minutes from Denia and 35 minutes from Javea. There's no flooding in this area.

Mosquitos? Yes, we have them the same as anywhere else on the costas! Take the usual common sense measures against them in the summer/autumn. Make sure all your windows and doors have insect screens. Inside, use the plug in refillable mozzy repellers, specially in the bedroom. Buy the big cans of anti mozzy spray from Mercadona, Lidl, etc and get yourself a fly swat. Outdoors, you can buy the anti mozzy spirals which you set alight under tables, etc and which give off a repellant smoke. You'll always get the odd bite, but strangely enough, they seem to decrease the more we live here. Maybe we don't taste so good as we get older, or our skin is getting thicker........

The Jalon valley is really nice, very lush, unspoilt, and some lovely villages up there. Also quite a high Brit count if that's important to you. Jalon and the surrounding villages are well above sea level and as a result do get slightly cooler nights and early mornings Jan-April. As Jack says after a few years the mozzies don't bite like they do on holiday (for most people) and there are plenty repellents to choose from.

Would definitely suggest you look at Denia, Javea, Moraira, if you haven't already. Budget wise, the closer to the coast the higher the prices as a general rule.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my question. We’re definitely considering those areas as well particularly Denia and Oliva🙂
