We’ve just inherited an apartment in Jalon. The air con hasn’t been used for at least 18months and doesn’t appear to be cooling at all when turned on. Is it like a car and needs topping up or serving yearly? And if so who would you recommend please?

Hi

I'm no technical expert, but...

Aircon units generally have different modes of operation - they can heat as well as cool. Are you sure it's in cooling mode?

Have you checked what temperature is set? Try lowering it to minimum in cooling mode.

btw - once the unit starts to blow air around it could take an hour or two to make an obvious difference.

Assuming the interior unit is accessible, the most important service is to simply clean the filters - the front face of the unit is basically just a door - open it and you will see the filters, use a vacuum cleaner to clean them, or remove and wash them.

Another btw - I'm assuming the unit actually has power i.e. it's plugged in and the relevant circuit breaker isn't tripped out

Hope I've helped!

Cheers

Follow the tips given above by Steve.

If you need a technician I'd try Euronics in Orba or Aircosta, links below. I haven't personally used either but have been recommended to both. They both speak English.

Aircosta

Euronics

Hope you get it sorted ok.

Common error Rich, you’d be amazed how many people think they have a fault on their system, when in fact it’s user error!
