Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and would like to take this opportunity to briefly introduce myself. My family and I live in Berlin, but we have had a holiday home in Javea since 2013.  My interests include classic cars and all kinds of sports, especially hiking and climbing in the hinterland and marathons.  In recent years, I have been working too much and not spending enough time on the finer things in life, but now I am in the process of turning that around and hope to be able to spend more time here. I look forward to discussing things with you. Best regards, Frank

Good luck, Frank. My partner and I have been here eight years, living in Adsubia, which is a great little village.

Javea is one of our favourite places locally for a whole host of reasons. Jayan cinema, Pollys Bookshop, what used to be Specsavers, the many excellent restaurants, good niche shopping, the pleasant port area, Arenal beach, the list goes on and on.

If there's any help or advice we can offer, let us know.

Good luck Frank

Reading your message sounds as if you need to relax a bit more - suggest you try pilates.

Was also wondering what amenities Adsubia has to offer. LOOKING TO MOVE MYSELF SOON. Hoping to find a villa within easy walking distance of amenities in an area with a friendly expat community.

Hi

Adsubia is just that, a friendly little village with lovely local people and an ex pat community scattered through the village and the Les Basetes urbanisation on the hill behind.

In terms of amenities, it has a GP surgery open for two hours five days a week with a very good doctor, a pharmacy, a bakery, a corner shop which sells virtually everything (a bit like Arkwright in Open All Hours), a rather upmarket restaurant, two bars, one of which, the Teleclub also does food, a great community pool and bar open in the summer months and a honey producer with her own shop. There are all sorts of classes run in the village including zumba and pilates. There is a petanque court and padel. And of course there is Pego, a small town only three kilometres away with all the amenities you'd expect,

Dear Herefordjck and CQ, thanks for your replies and warm welcome.  And yes, we love Javea for its bars and restaurants, miradors and the people … enjoy this since 2008 and hopefully more often in the future.  Regards Frank
