Hi we are about to sign our rental agreement can anyone tell me if you can obtain residencia while renting as one of the clauses says something contradictory

There's absolutely no reason why not. You do of course have other criteria to meet:

If you have signed a rental agreement to live here more than 6 months of the year -
then yes you have to have a Residencia from Policia National-( Denia and Benidorm
for North CB. Hope you have an NIE number.,
Also (not compulsory but helps you get services in your Tiwn) ) get on the Padron of your new town hall..
Sort out some medical option, ( pay social security minimum a month, or go private, SS is best and less cost.
