Hi all

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on things for me?

Me, my husband and my little boy are looking to move to the Costa Blanca next year.

If the current deal is agreed tomorrow what will we need to do to move across permanently.

My husband will be working remotely and I will be setting up as an autonomo.

Many thanks

Kush

Hi, It means you will need to apply for residency as a non EU national and everything that goes with that process, unless the Spanish change their rules . Checkout Jim's guides on this forum on this subject for the current details.

Best case scenario is that Spain would agree to continue to treat UK ex-pats under the current rules for EU immigrants but that would depend on reciprocal agreements from the UK government. Spain is making all the right noises for those of us already resident but its a waiting game. I doubt everything will be finalised much before December next year assuming Brexit goes ahead on 31st October.

Hi Kush

Thank you. I've searched through Jim's guides and come up with this document which seems really useful...

https://www.lamoncloa.gob.es/lang/en/brexit/howtoprepare/Paginas/190108residence.aspx

Ive took a screenshot of a section that I think is relevant. If I've read it right, then we need to apply for the residencia and if we meet the criteria as an EU citizen then we will be given the foreigner identity card  which I believe is what they give people outside of the EU (if I've understood it right)

Sorry Riemee I don't think that's the the relevant doc that you should be reading hopefully if Jim himself sees this thread or RayD they will give you better advice.
