Brexit has probably generated more heated posts than any other topic! I have myself occasionally contributed but am disturbed by the agression that is often displayed.

Most of us, if not all of us have a very limited knowledge of the facts because they have been distorted by politicians more interested in their own egos, power and wealth than the good of the country. Furthermore, your really would need to be a specialist to fully understand the detailed economic and social considerations.

This short video by Stephen Fry sheds light on some of the facts. You can of course skip the adverts by clicking on the lower right.

I do hope it is well received on the forum and that it generates some constructive posts.

A.P.

Extremely one sided facts AC.

It smacked of a boring Party Political broadcast on behalf of the Remain Party..

As you state, the topic has been well aired on here and resulted in no further progress and only antagonistic comments from both sides.

Best let be, at least for now,  in my humble opinion.!

In my opinion. The general public over in the UK, have since 2016 believing (democraticaly) that whichever facts have portrayed for either side, whoever "votes" for the public, actually believe they will DO SOMETHING. Democracy (the public believes?) & continues to do so, whilst those trusted politicians seem only following "power-play". Whilst the civil servants, financial services & the real world, (faceless wonders we all know exist ), the real brokers, wait until the obvious inevitably. Now, it's US which have to wait. Argue if you wish. Its already destined. The EU are offering no more negotiation but are now moving the dead-line again beyond October. My humble opinion. Sorry, I was in a bar in at the time in Europe when writ! Villas

Thank you Villas but I really can't understand what you are saying. Are you suggesting that whatever the referendum result had been, the government would have made up its own mind? Anyway, my question stands - if the video is nothing more than propaganda, which "facts" are wrong? A.P.

In answer to your two-part informative post, I read with interest. The word “propaganda” or in it´s modern usage is “information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote a political cause or point of view”.In a 1929 literary debate with Edward Bernays argued that, "Propaganda is “making puppets of us.” We are moved by hidden strings which the propagandist manipulates. As we know a range of materials and media used for conveying propaganda messages. (changed as new technologies were invented, including paintings, cartoons, posters, pamphlets, films, radio shows, TV shows, and websites. You Tube etc.)

Accepting that aside, I was addressing the second issue was democracy. Purely as since 2016 (decision in UK parliament) until this year by watching the failed attempts to reach a decision in the UK. The public are still waiting for the “democratic process” who are now, concentrating on forming a new political team who seem more intent on attaining their power rather than the point in question i.e.: Brexit.( or not.)

As mentioned in the news today, EU Juncker (who in turn will pass on the buck) & without further EU negotiation, intimates that this further delay will continue with more potential disaster. . Hence, the public will wait.

Yes, I entirely agree with what you say about propaganda. Likewise I agree that the current protangonists for PM have little or no interest in the people but merely their own egos and power. I would like to see some posts that take "facts" from the video and demostrate that they are erroneous or false thus justifying the use of the term "propaganda". I also suspect that cash is changing hands behind the scenes as this might explain some of the apparently nonsensical views expressed by some of the politicians. A.P.
