HI

My husband and I have planned a visit in March to have a look around the areas in Javea,  with the plan for a permanent move to Spain later in the year from the UK, ideally September.  We want to rent (as most people often do!!) a 2 bed initially, large terrace or garden, close to amenities/beach that accepts pets all year around. We would prefer a 12 month let but understand most owners tend to want their properties back to let out during the peak months - July & August

Do you know when the best time to view potential properties that are available then?

Would owners be more agreeable if it was an unfurnished property, we have a well behaved, short haired, medium sized 11 year old dog?

We are a couple in our 50's that will be paying 12 months rent in advance with a budget of around £1000 per month, the idea is to find something we like and if find we are settled then buy

We understand we would need residency before 31st December as well

Any recommendations, advice etc gratefully appreciated especially to help when we come in March

Many thanks

Gail

Hello Gail,

You are being wise in renting a property for some months before you settle on an area to buy.

Here are several answers from people who are considering or have

moved to that area.

Help - Thinking of moving to Javea

Please read through the following guide.  You should find many

answers to practical questions compiled into a guide by Jim Taylor.

Jim's guides - your complete guide to Spain

You should be able to find a rental property.

One thing for sure, please DO NOT pay anyone 12 months rent in advance.

Wishing you every success in your plans to move to Spain.

Regards

Maria

Maria's advice is sound, never pay rent in advance, get a properly drawn up contract and ideally work with a Renting Agency like Rent-2-Go, only pay a refundable deposit through a holding account.

Hi Maria

Thank you for your reply, we are really looking forward to moving out to Spain 😄

I am just concerned re your comment do not pay anyone 12 months rent, we will not be working and hopefully not planning to, so we cannot be referenced!? We have savings and some rent coming in monthly from uk from property so not sure how it works in Spain.

We are both currently senior managers in the property industry here in England but giving our careers up and rent in advance would be the only option here. Do you know options there?

Thanks for any info or help

Gail

Gail, a  member DavBev1 has written a guide on holiday lets in Spain from landlords position.   Hope you find some helpful info.

Please send them a private message if unsure regarding rental laws in Spain.

But no do not give anyone 12 months rent in advance.
