We are hoping to relocate from Ibiza, which we have lived in a Spanish village for over 15 years.  We recently looked at Pilar de Horodada, but are looking for something with more of a village feel.  I now think Costa Blanca North would be more suitable, but only familiar with the South!  We would like walking distance to local amenities and public schools(our children's first language is Spanish) we would want 3 bed but not apartment. Max budget 150 plus costs.  Any ideas of areas would be great.  We would of course rent first, but need to know what areas are of interest with our budget to buy.

Hi Joanne, In general the North is considered to be more expensive than the South. Walking distance to schools will probably restrict you to the larger towns. Would suggest you parse a few names of towns from a map of the area and then enter them into Kyero, the internet portal for nearly all property in spain, used by all the estate agents, with your parameters for price etc. You will at least then get a sensible idea of what there is. It’s obviously cheaper inland from the coast, but tends to be more rural, so amenities may not be so convenient,

I realise this is not specific help, but may be a signpost to some ideas.

It’s a small town about 20 mins drive from us, fairly rural. We have some Dutch friends who live there, just outside. Have only ever seen it ‘in passing’, but understand that like most of the small towns/villages around here, it almost has a majority expat population of varying flavours. The village itself appears to be surrounded with the usual kind of horrible recent buildings, built for utility rather than aesthetics. The attached website link will give you more helpful info re schools etc.

Hi Joanne

The north is more mountainous and has some very beautiful but rugged scenery.  I know you are looking to be in a Spanish town rather than an ex-pat area so you would be heading inland a little.  I'll drop you an email
