Morning,

after reading a few old posts it seems most agree that the water in Javea is considered safe to drink.

I'm moving over this year to live and wondered if it was worth getting a water jug filter , if so are Britas ok or pay the

extra for a 'zerowater' (the replacement filters seem very expensive), or is it a waste of time and the water is just fine

 straight from the tap?

many thanks.

We use bottled water for drinking, compared to the U.K. it is not a rip off, a 5 litre bottle is less than a Euro or six 2 litre bottles less than 2 Euros in Consum Supermarket.

thanks for the replies guys,

tap water seems like a posibility then, not too keen on carrying water every other day from the shop, the question now is Britas filter or not, might see how we get on with the taste of the tap water and take it from there.

I don't live in that area. But where I am the tap water( in town) seems over-chrorinated. Locals drink it, but many more seem to go for bottled. Also ( only speaking for my area) lots of calcium, lots of reported kidney stones. Finally, I only drink low calcium agua con gas, so bottled always for me. Don't want those stones again. Villas.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

1.I only drink fizzy water. 2. The water supply to my house is untreated irrigation water. 3. The town water besides being calcium rich, is also chlorine rich. ( don't drink bleach!). Bottled water tastes nice (with a slice of lemmon) when the gin's expired. Villas.

I drink the tap water in Javea. No filter needed in my opinion. I'm like you I do not wanna carry bottled water every day although 6L for under a euro in mercadonna is a great buy.

Do you drink your water plain? I think in a jug in the fridge will be totally fine 👍

I normally drink mine with a fine malt whisky. ( but tend to leave out the water). V.

Tap water is fine, just tangy from the minerals, we stopped using bottled water in an attempt to cut down on single use plastic.

We got 2 Brita filters one for fridge and one for tea, certainly makes shopping easier,  no dragging all those heavy bottles around and it's better for the environment.

You may find a filter for the water you use in the kettle and coffee machines is useful to keep them from 'furring'. That's what I do with a 5 filter osmosis system to a separate tap.
