Hi Mark,

You have not stated if you are from the UK, Ireland or an EU country.

I will assume that you are from the UK with a UK passport..........

If you want to live in Spain permanently you will need to apply for a visa from the Spanish consulate in London, Manchester or Edinburgh. You will need to meet the income and healthcare requirements.

If you want to live and work in Spain you will need to secure a position and have your prospective employer sponsor you with a work visa. Your prospective employer will need to prove that they cannot find an EU citizen to fill the position. All jobs in Spain have to be offered to an EU citizen first.

If you want to retire from work you can apply for a non lucrative visa which will mean that you cannot work here in Spain. To secure a non lucrative visa you will need to prove an income of around €28,000 per annum and have full private healthcare.

However, if you have an EU or Irish Passport you can move over to Spain under the free movement option and sign the foreigners register in Spain.

What Nationality Passport ?
