Britain removed from Residencia appointment booking system

I have been trying to make sense of the online booking system for residencia appointments in recent weeks (and failing thoroughly by the way, it makes no sense whatsoever!).

I have noticed that a few days ago "Gran Bretana" was removed from the drop down box section of the form where you state your nationality. There is a "Malaysia - Gran Bretana" option (WTF?) but nothing else relating to Britain or the UK.

Has anyone else noticed this or have any idea why it has happened? I'm thinking you could probably put another country down if needed just to get you through the door, anyone got any thoughts on this?

Look for Reino Unido.

To be honest I think in the circumstances currently it's worth the outlay for a Gestor to do it.

Assuming they can get an appointment any sooner which is anything but a given!

True, no guarantee whatsoever, but where money is changing hands they have a better chance than you or I perhaps....

Ahh thanks for that. I see they have changed it from Gran Bretana to Reino Unido. It's easy to panic with Brexit and everything!

As far as I know the only way to get an appointment is through the online system (anyone know anything different?). The system seems to operate completely at random offering you an appointment at an office anywhere in the Alicante region which can be anything from the next day to 6 weeks in advance (50% or more of the time it says no appointments are available).

I don't know what a Gestor would do about this, but I'd be interested to hear if any are reading this. I did contact a Gestor who told me appointments were already booked up months in advance, but I had just checked and been offered one the next day so I was put off.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has recently had or booked a residencia appointment either by themself or through a Gestor.

It's been the same situation for months now.

If you get the chance of an appointment, provided it's in the province where you live, then go for it.

The other option is to visit national police stations and ask them direct.

Thanks Jim, I thought you might have a take on this!

We don't arrive in Spain for a few weeks yet so I'm just checking every day or two waiting for something suitable to come up. It's not often you come across a computer system as unpredictable as this one and I'm a bit fascinated. I guess I should expect a lot more of this type of thing moving to Spain!

I will bear in mind the Police station option though as a plan B.

I'm so grateful for this forum, it's a real lifeline for newbie expats like myself.
