Hello expats in Xàbia, we are new in the area with my husband Rhod. Where do the expats meet for a drink or social events in Xàbia?

It’s hard to avoid ex-pats in Xabia - 60% of the population is composed of foreign residents of varying flavours.

It also depends upon which part of Xabia? there is the ‘old town’, ‘the port’ and they ‘arenal’ area, all are separate and distinct areas.

The Arenal has many shops and bars, nightclubs and various other kinds of places.

The Port has a nice main shopping street and various other places and a pleasant sea front boasting numerous bars and small restaurants

The old town is exactly what you imagine an old Spanish town to be with small winding streets and interesting places.

You many find that the Arenal may be one of the best places to meet people.

There are clubs of all kinds, a cinema which often shows English films and so on.

You may find it helpful to buy a copy of The Costa Blanca News which usefully carries pages of adverts for local clubs/organisations etc; joining one of these may be the easiest way to meet people - but of course, it does depend upon what you are looking/hoping for. Many, although of course, not all, residents will be retired so may not be the sort of company you were hoping for, but I wish you luck!
