Water Connection Charges

We have recently bought a new 3 bed apartment in Javea and we are looking for advice on the cost of water connection from AMJASA. We have just received a bill for over 3000 euros for our 'contribution' to the connection. When we researched possible costs for utilities, the figures quoted were no where near this charge so we wondered if anyone else on the forum had recently been connected? If so, is this a realistic charge or should we question it? Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.
